Barton Bears "WISH" March is National Reading Month!

March was Reading Month, and Barton teachers planned lots of fun reading activities for their students! The whole school took part in a “Book Study” challenge using the book Wish. Every classroom received copies of the book and read it together each day to get ready for the challenge. Principal Adams encouraged classes to read 2–3 chapters each week. Students read the story on their own or listened as their teacher read it aloud. Throughout the month, students answered questions about the book during Morning Announcements and on Fun Friday. The goal was to finish the book before Spring Break. To make things even more exciting, students and teachers could win prizes by answering questions correctly in a mini “Battle of the Books.” Students earned treats for each correct answer!

Classes also showed their creativity in a Door Decoration Contest. One class decorated their door based on The Lorax, while another created a display inspired by their favorite books and movies. The winning teacher earned special comp time before Spring Break. Kindergarten students enjoyed a special visit from Mystery Reader Wayne County Commissioner Alicia Bell. Students and teachers always love when she comes to read with them!

It was a fun and exciting month full of reading at Barton!
